Sandwiched between two of the biggest shopping days of the year, Small Business Saturday is too often overlooked by the big sales of Black Friday and Cyber Monday. However, Small Business Saturday is easily one of the more important consumer days as it encourages shoppers to buy local, shop small, and support their local communities.
What is Small Business Saturday?
Small Business Saturday is the day after Black Friday and its purpose is to celebrate small businesses across the country. A relatively new tradition to the biggest shopping weekend of the year, Small business Saturday started in 2010 and each year participation increases significantly.
As a small company ourselves, our best clients are often other small businesses. We especially enjoy working with small businesses in our Richmond community and this Saturday, we plan to show our continued support to our clients. These local businesses have much to offer this holiday season and we hope we can help generate some gift ideas for your friends and family.
RVA small shop guide
We know that our good friends over at Flagstop Car Wash offer gift cards for everyone who loves to keep their car squeaky clean. They have car wash locations all throughout Richmond, from Chesterfield to the West End to Hopewell, so there’s a location nearby no matter what part of the River City you’re in. If you’ve got a car lover in your family, then grab them a gift card for all their car washing needs.
Do you have a daughter, granddaughter, or niece that you have trouble picking out gifts for? Our client Spa-Tacular Parties offers spa and beauty themed parties for anyone who loves to be pampered! They can host parties and spa days in their spa located in Midlothian, or they can bring the spa to your home. They offer gift cards for the holidays and their spa-tacular business would be a great local business to celebrate on Small Business Saturday.
Our client Sarah’s Cross Stitch offers custom embroidery, monogramming, and other tailoring services in their small shop in Chesterfield. They don’t have a minimum quantity and there is no setup fee for their orders. They also do digital transfer and custom patches, and any of their services would be a great way to personalize gifts for all your loved ones.
And while you’re out and about celebrating all the local small businesses that RVA has to offer, be sure to grab a bite to eat over at Deep Run Roadhouse. They have locations in the west end and downtown and their specialty is BBQ and Tex-Mex comfort foods. From brisket, pulled pork, smoked chicken, to vegan portabella BBQ, there is something for everyone to devour. They also provide catering and have a banquet room in their west end location (hello holiday party ideas!).
Shopping for jewelry this holiday season? If so, be sure to head over to our friends at Sycamore Jewelers in Midlothian and check out their collections. Not only do they have a large array of diamonds, they also offer custom jewelry designs as well as jewelry appraisal and cleaning. Sycamore Jewelers is a one stop shop for all things jewelry, and we’re happy to promote them for Small Business Saturday.
Richmond’s small businesses have so much to offer and buying local benefits our community immensely. Small businesses are a vital part of each and every community across the country and it’s especially important that shoppers don’t overlook small shops this holiday season.
