Search Engine Optimization

The Age of the Yellow Pages Is Over

Right now, dozens of people are looking for your products or services. Yes, right now. But they aren’t flipping through the phone book to find you.

They’re searching for a plumber on Google. Pulling up a list of photographers on Yahoo. Finding a home builder on Bing.

Do people find YOU when they search online?

If your web traffic and results leave something to be desired, it’s time to consider a search engine optimization strategy.

So, what is SEO?

Search engine optimization (SEO) is an ongoing process used to improve a website’s performance in organic (i.e., unpaid) search results. The purpose is to increase the volume and quality of traffic that a website receives from search engines.

How does optimization work?

Both internal (or on page) and external (off page) factors influence your website’s optimization and how well your site shows up in search results.

These factors can include:

  • domain authority;
  • how a website is designed;
  • how easily a search engine can access and "read" your site’s code/content;
  • the originality, relevance and freshness of your content;
  • the use of keyword phrases in your website; and
  • the number of reputable sites that link to your site.

Can I pay to have my website show up #1 in search results?

Nope! Organic SEO is not influenced by money; you cannot buy a certain rank or guarantee a position in results for a set amount of money.

In fact, Google itself warns against SEO firms that promise that your website will be #1 or campaigns that advertise a "special" or "exclusive" relationship with Google that will get your site to the top. These claims are totally and utterly false!
