Community Support has outgrown Richmond – providing hope for Stowe

Key Web Concepts was very eager to participate when we heard the news about Ian Stowe’s brain tumor. Recognized as a predominant athlete in the Virginia soccer scene, Stowe was connected to several networks and individuals in the community, including Key Web Concepts Inc..

“The tumor was determined to be Germinoma, a type of cancer caused by the improper migration of germ cells. The tumor was biopsied at Inova Fairfax Hospital, and after a week of pathology testing, Ian was diagnosed with Germinoma, a type of germ cell tumor typically resulting from a failure of germ cells to migrate properly in the body.” (Read more at

Ian has since moved to MCV here in Richmond and has begun chemotherapy and radiation treatments. We checked out his first “vlog” that Stowe released on Feb 5th. You can hear the determination and dedication in his voice and feel honored to be involved in this fight, and we will win.

I know I can speak for everyone on staff, especially CEO Jim Thomas (soccer coach), when I tell you how eager and motivated we all were to get involved. The motivation remains and continues to grow with every day. We were  fortunate enough to get  the opportunity to design a logo and website for this amazing cause; having a chance to feel like you were a part of something special is a feeling no one can explain.

We encourage anyone and everyone to help build awareness around Richmond and the surrounding areas. By the looks of their facebook page – you would think not much was needed! The overwhelming support continues to rise by the minute. It’s very rewarding seeing the community come together for an individual who has been so driven and dedicated all his life, he deserves all the support we can provide, and then some. (Ian’s Story )

The Richmond Kickers together with Ian’s alma mater soccer team – William & Mary, have gotten involved and are hosting a benefit exhibition on Friday, March 23. All funds will directly benefit this campaign. (details here)

Another active way to get involved and to stay up to date is to join the growing number of facebook fans  for  #stowestrong. It was created to raise awareness and support for Ian Stowe, his family and the fight against cancer.

We hope to encourage others to support this cause and realize that each and every one of us, in some way, shape, or form has been directly or indirectly affected by cancer. And it’s nothing any of us are ever prepared to face. Let’s get through this together and stay #stowestrong.

The #stowestrong brand was created to align the universal goal of curing cancer, alongside the initiative to gain as much support for Ian Stowe and his family while he battles cancer today.
