Hi! My name is Sarah Vaughan and I am excited to be joining the team at Key Web Concepts as their newest copywriter.

I’m somewhat of a Richmond native as I grew up in the small town of Louisa, just a mere 30 minute drive west of Richmond. I have lived in the city since 2010 when I began studying at Virginia Commonwealth University (go Rams!). My husband, who’s from Virginia Beach, is now an RVA lover as well and we very much enjoy living in the river city. We were even married in Byrd park, featuring a food truck dinner and Sugar Shack donuts for dessert. Yes—it was as awesome as it sounds.

At VCU, I obtained a BA in English with a minor in writing and an MA in English Literature. With both degrees, I delved deeply into scholarly writing, such as thesis-like projects, as well as creative nonfiction projects, like memoirs and essays. I also had the privilege of being the Lead Copy Editor at VCU’s online literary magazine, Blackbird.  I am excited to use all of these writing and editing skills here as a copywriter.

In my spare time, I enjoy an array of pretty basic things like cuddling my five-month-old daughter, watching Netflix, and keeping my very sweet but poorly-behaved dog, Marvel, from barking at the wind (or jumping on guests or licking the baby or trying to eat food off the table). I also write for my personal blog devoted to my experience as a new wife and new mother. My daughter, Kensington, has brought so much joy into my life. Blogging has become a way for me to slow down, cherish, and remember her milestones as well as a way to share the—often embarrassing—moments my husband and I have experienced as newlyweds and new parents.

Writing is and always has been a big part of who I am. Whether it’s a poorly drafted essay on my life that’s sole purpose is to clear my head, a blog post about what crazy thing my daughter has started doing (right now it’s squealing as loud as she can … all the time), or it’s a carefully crafted critical analysis on John Milton’s Paradise Lost, whenever I’m writing I feel more motivated and fulfilled than when I’m not.

I’m looking forward to taking my next step into the writing world as a copywriter and I couldn’t be more excited to apply that motivation to my work here with Key Web Concepts.
